Who I am

¡Hola! I’m Matt, a professional, independent Spanish language and Special Educational Needs (SEN) tutor based in Hampshire.

My journey with languages has always been about communication, connection, and building confidence. Having completed both a four-year undergraduate degree in Spanish and a Master’s degree in Translation and Interpreting, I combine a deep academic understanding of language structure with practical, modern teaching methods. Alongside my general language tuition, my background as an SEN tutor means I specialize in creating highly supportive, structured, and adaptive learning environments where every student feels comfortable progressing at their own pace.

Whether I am working with private students or guiding our lively, low-intermediate conversation groups at the Colden Common Community Centre, my goal is the same: to help you break through the barrier of vocabulary and grammar worksheets and actually start speaking. I focus on creating realistic, interactive roleplays and practical resources that give you the confidence to use your Spanish in the real world.

When I’m not teaching, you’ll usually find me working in my garden, diving into European history and urban design, or out exploring the Hampshire countryside with my Golden Retriever, Lily.

I look forward to helping you unlock your confidence and take your Spanish to the next level!
